The demonstration takes place in Newry, County Down, on Saturday, 29th August 2026.
All buses, coaches, and official vehicles should arrive by 11:00 am. Public parking roads will also close
at this time.
The main assembly area is at Newry High School on Ashgrove Road.
Mourne District: Approach via A2 Warrenpoint Road, through Newry city centre to the Belfast Road Roundabout, taking the 3rd exit onto Ashgrove Road.
All other Districts: Approach via the A1 and A28 to the Belfast Road Roundabout, taking the 1st exit onto Ashgrove Road.
- Parking for the General Public: Available in the Demonstration Field and adjoining fields, as well as a field on Ashgrove Road. The cost is £10.00 per vehicle.
- Limited Street Parking: Available on Downshire Road, Trevor Hill, Kildare Street, and New Street.
- Blue Badge Holders: A reserved area is available in a field beside the Demonstration Field and we are hoping for another area adjacent to Shandon Park.
Applications for a non-transferable permit must be made by Saturday, 25th July 2026. No vehicle can join the procession without a clearly displayed permit. To apply for a Vehicle Permit click here
Yes, passengers can be dropped off on the Belfast Road near the Police Station, which is a 0.25-mile walk to the assembly area.
* 11:30 am: Local parade (County Grand Officers and Wellington Memorial Silver Band) leaves the R.L. Mitchell Memorial Orange Hall.
* 12:00 Noon: The Main Parade commences from Ashgrove Road.
* 3:00 pm: Platform proceedings and the Worship Service begin at the Demonstration Field.
* 4:00 pm: The Return Parade commences.
The route includes Ashgrove Road, Belfast Road, Downshire Road, Trevor Hill, Kildare Street, Hill Street, Margaret Square, Margaret Street, The Mall, Sugar Island, and eventually to the Demonstration Field on Cloghanramer Road.

It is located on Cloghanramer Road, approximately 1 mile from Newry City centre.
Yes of course, but there will be no vehicle access to/from it between 12 noon and approximately 2.30pm.
We will try to keep the disruption to local residents to a minimum but this will be very difficult between 12 noon and 2.30pm on Saturday 29th August 2026. However, there will be local parade stewards along the route to assist residents in an emergency access situation, or where a carer or health official is required to visit a home.

Yes, catering facilities will be provided at the Assembly Field and the Demonstration Field. Contact Newry District if you would like to order sandwich boxes for the Assembly area for your preceptory or band.
A Zero Alcohol policy is strictly enforced in all car parking and demonstration areas.
First Aid is available at the Assembly Area, Newry Orange Hall, the Demonstration Field, and via mobile paramedics.
Toilets have been hired and will be positioned in the Assembly Area, along the parade route, the Demonstration field and at the bus departure area.
Newry Black District is committed to promoting equality and good relations by ensuring the event is open, visible, and managed collaboratively by the Organising Committee.
1. Open Invitation and Dialogue:
The entire route and the religious service at the demonstration field are open to all members of the public, regardless of community background, gender, sexuality and ethnicity. Event Information, particularly the route and impact on traffic will be widely shared and will include a leaflet drop to local residents, community bulletins and social media. We will emphasise our positive cultural and charitable outreach.
2. Statutory and Community Engagement:
The Organising Committee will proactively engage with Council’s Good Relations team and local representatives to discuss arrangements, minimise disruption, and address any concerns, ensuring effective shared space management. A similar meeting will be arranged with the PSNI and Translink.
1. Accessibility
The event takes place on public roads and spaces, ensuring equal access for all. Stewarding and planning will consider the needs of vulnerable and disabled individuals in addition to ensuring minimum inconvenience to local residents, who will receive an event flyer. Signage will also be erected well before the event. Specific areas will be reserved for disabled visitors.
2. Non-Discriminatory Participation:
The focus will be on Christian fellowship and cultural heritage within a positive community event. Our charitable outreach message transcends community divisions, ensuring the benefits of viewing the cultural spectacle and its positive message are available to NMDD residents equally.
